From Amazon jungle to Andes

29 september 2019 - Juliaca, Peru

First of all I would like to thank you all for participating in my 'adventures' and for all your comments and good wishes. So far I have not encountered any serious problems and I hope that the second half of my trip will be as wonderful as the first part.

On Wednesday I returned to El Alto from Rurrenabaque and continued from there to Cpopacaban at Lake Titicaca. It's only a 35 min flight from Rurre to El Alto but what a chane of scenery!

Lake Titicaca is HUGE - one cannot see the northern shore. I visited the Isla del Sol and yesterday I crossed the border to Peru. On first sight Peru is not much different from Bolivia. The way people dress, the food, goods on the markets, cars, roads and houses are quite similar, although Peru seems to be a little more prosperous.

Also the public toilets are the same. Meaning that there are plenty of them as well as public showers - I guess lots of people don't have bathrooms and the people selling goods on the streets need somewhere to go. It's quite funny how it works: you pay approx 12 cents at the entrance and you are being handed a small stack of toilet paper. You have to do with it if you do not bring your own supplies😉

Today I visited the floating islands of the Puro people on Lake Titicaca. I will tell you more about it later. First I have to catch the night bus to Arequipa.
